What's new in AI Cockpit for iPhone 2.10

Submitted to Apple on 30 September 2026 and waiting for review; not in the App Store yet. This page describes what the update brings.

Numbers you can read either way, a time marker that tells you whether you are over plan, and a widget you can set up — on the Lock Screen too, fetching every service itself, with a live countdown.

New

• Used or remaining. A new choice under Settings → Appearance → Percentages shows every quota as used (the default, as before) or as what is left. It applies everywhere: cards, bars, collapsed summaries, the widget and the Apple Watch app and complication. Where there is room, the word “remaining” stands next to the number.
• The colour stays honest. Warnings still follow usage, not the number you read: 90 % remaining stays green, 18 % remaining turns orange with a warning sign. Only the number flips, never the traffic light.
• Both views always add up to 100. 71.5 % used reads as 72 % used — or 28 % remaining, not 29 %.
• The widget can be configured — on the Home Screen and on the Lock Screen. Touch and hold, Edit Widget, and pick what it shows (see the table below).
• Codex credits in the widget. The large widget shows the ChatGPT/Codex credit balance as a line of its own. On the Lock Screen you can pick Credits as the value: the rectangular widget shows it in words, the circular one as a plain number — without a ring, because credits have no maximum and a percentage would be invented.
• Credits stay credits. Never converted to dollars — OpenAI keeps usage credits and the dollar wallet apart.
• The small widget names its source when it shows a single card, e.g. “ChatGPT/Codex · 5H”, so you no longer have to tell it by colour.
• The widget fetches every service itself — ChatGPT/Codex with credits, the OpenAI and Anthropic APIs, Kimi, OpenRouter, Grok and Copilot, not only Claude. Before, those lines were only as fresh as the last time the app ran. It fetches only what it shows: a Codex-credits widget asks Codex alone; “All cards” asks the visible cards in parallel, within 9 seconds.
• A live countdown on the Lock Screen. Rectangular and circular widgets show the time until the window resets and count down every second (“↻ 1:42:07”) — iOS draws it without reloading. The age of the numbers stays next to it, small, so an older figure never passes for a fresh one.
• A time marker in the bar. A second, distinct mark shows how much of the window has passed. If 3 of 5 hours are gone, it sits at 60 %: a bar at 45 % means you are under plan, at 75 % over. Where there is room the card says so — “15 % over plan”, “on plan” or “under plan”. On cards, in the large widget and in the Apple Watch app; it moves with the time, also in the widget without a reload. With “remaining” it moves to the other side. Can be switched off under Appearance (“Time marker in the bar”, on by default).

• Calmer refresh intervals. Claude and ChatGPT/Codex every 3 minutes, all other cards every 5 minutes (before: 30 seconds to 15 minutes). Only intervals still on the old default move; values you chose yourself stay. Pull to refresh still fetches everything at once.
• Slower when a service throttles. If a service answers “too many requests” (429) twice within an hour, that card is checked half as often — 3 → 6 → 12 minutes, at most 15 — and speeds up again one step per quiet hour. The wait a service asks for (Retry-After) is still honoured.
• No more rush at the same second. Each timed fetch waits a random 0–20 seconds, so after returning to the app not all cards ask at once.
• Widgets always fit. The large and medium widget show as many cards as fit and put the rest under “+ N more in the app”; the header always stays inside. The rectangular Lock Screen widget keeps to three full lines.

Good to know

• Notifications, thresholds and the Live Activity keep speaking of usage — a warning at 80 % used stays a warning at 80 % used.
• How often the widget refreshes: with the app open, every 3 or 5 minutes like the cards. With the app closed, as often as iOS allows — about 40 to 70 reloads a day, so roughly every 15 to 30 minutes, on the Lock Screen as on the Home Screen. No widget of any app can refresh every second; what ticks every second is the countdown.
• The widget never renews a sign-in. If the ChatGPT/Codex sign-in has expired, the line says “open in the app”; opening the app once renews it. API keys do not expire.
• The Apple Watch keeps no credentials on purpose. Its complication gets its numbers from the iPhone.
• iOS lets no app fetch data in the background. The refresh intervals apply while AI Cockpit is open and visible.
